BACKGROUND

Experienced, Grounded, and Attuned to Each Person

My background is a little different from some therapists. Before my career change, I worked in medical and pharmaceutical sales; an experience that gives me a different  window into how people think about health, treatment, and their own bodies. I completed my Master’s Degree  in Social Work at Texas State University and my undergraduate degree in Journalism at University of Texas in Austin. Peter Levine’s three-year Somatic Experiencing™ training fundamentally changed how I work with clients. I help my clients notice the connection between what is going on in their mind and how it shows up in their body.

For more than two decades, I’ve worked with adults facing a wide range of difficulties such as life transitions, stress, loss, self-confidence issues, and disrupted sleep. I don’t offer one-size-fits-all approaches. What I do is pay close attention to the person in front of me and bring the depth of my experience to figure out what’s going to help them.

I pay close attention to the person i’m sitting with, and together we figure out what will actually help.

A PERSONAL JOURNEY

Why CBT-I Became Part of My Practice

This one is personal. I struggled with insomnia for years. For most of my life, sleep came easily – I never gave it much thought. Then, a health issue and medications disrupted my sleep. Even after stopping the medication, my sleep didn’t return to normal.

I’d go to bed exhausted, hoping I’d fall asleep like I did before but that never happened. When I did fall asleep, I’d wake up in the middle of the night and just … be awake. It was frustrating. It took a toll on my energy, my mood, and my ability to enjoy my life. I even tried sleep aids, but they left me groggy or waking in the middle of the night.

“When I read about CBT-I, I figured, I’m a therapist — I can totally DIY this. Spoiler: I could not. Three days in, I was back to my old routine, swearing I’d try again… eventually! Turns out, sleep doesn’t care about credentials.”

After completing CBT-I with a specialist, i finally found consistent sleep.

That experience changed my practice. I pursued advanced training with two of the leading experts in Behavioral Sleep Medicine  because I knew what it felt like to be stuck in that cycle, and I wanted to be able to help people out of it.

“The clinical training matters, but so does knowing firsthand what it’s like to sit on the other side of it.”

My Approach

A Warm, Practical Approach to Therapy

I’m direct without being clinical. I think therapy should feel useful and not just a place to talk, but a place where real change becomes possible. I hold both at once: the depth of what’s going on emotionally and the practical question of what’s going to be different because of this work.

Whether you’re dealing with insomnia, a life change, anxiety, or just that feeling you can’t quite explain, I adjust my approach to what will help you most.

Warm and Genuine

I bring warmth, curiosity, and authenticity to our work together.

Insight and Change

Understanding yourself is important, but insight alone doesn’t always create change.

Depth & Practicality

Together, we’ll explore what’s beneath the surface while also focusing on what helps in daily life.

Adapted to You

I tailor my approach to fit your needs, goals, and what will be most helpful for you.
